I have great news to share with you – the drainage and ground preparation work for the sports pitches has now been completed and the seeds were sown last week just before the rain came. What perfect timing!
Due to the pandemic, we have had to make the difficult decision to postpone the Community Day – a great shame as this would have been a fantastic opportunity for everyone to come and celebrate all that is good about Adderbury. However, we are planning to make the event extra special for everyone next year! We hope to be able to begin fundraising events later in the year.
Work on the Business Plan and researching grant opportunities continues and, in the meantime, there are other ways in which you can help us raise money:
- Register with the Cherwell Lottery. Tickets cost just £1 per week and each ticket has a 1 in 50 chance to win a prize each week, with a top prize of £25,000. For every £1 ticket you buy, 50p goes towards your chosen cause and 10p goes towards other causes in Cherwell, of which we are one.
- Shop online and sign up to Easyfundraising – 4,000 shops and sites will donate to us when you do your online shopping with them – at no extra cost to you!
- One WFAC member rescued a bike recently from a skip and sold it on eBay for £200 which he then donated to our sports and community project. Maybe you have something which you could sell on eBay or maybe you could try selling your unwanted items at a car boot!
- You could hold your own fundraising event by taking on a challenge and ask people to sponsor you.
I am sure there are many more ways in which we, as a village, can, together, raise the funds we need and if you have any ideas, we would love to hear from you.
